I had these big plans to post all the time on this site, but alas I have failed. Oh well, the Summer is nearing an end and I think I'll have more time in the fall. As far as the band goes, it seems like the only constant is change. Kevin had to leave the band for personal reasons and we've been playing with a killer new drummer Phil Sean Johnson. She is like a human groove machine and the band, and I know I writen this before, never sounded better. Hopefully we will record a new album with her and have it available by the end of the year. As for touring, we had to take about a month and a half off to work up songs with Phil, but never fear for the Doxies tour machine will be back this fall and we hope to see all of you soon.

talkin' bout last night

Friday was a great night, and the show couldn't have gone better. The new songs came off really well and joint was packed. However, oh what drama there was before the show. I wont go into detail, but the new management at Mojos leaves much to be desired and it's hard to balance the interests of two other bands. But, all's well that ends well. We'll be in Springfield this Friday and we'll see if we can make the show work on the road

When It’s Done it’s Done

The new Doxies album, yet to be titled, is mixed and ready to be mastered. Brent is flying up to Chicago to master the new offering with Dan at Colossal mastering. As an interesting side note, Dan used to engineer at The Chicago Recording Company that was recently featured in the sub par film Oceans 12.

The final session was a marathon, we spent 14 hour days scrutinizing every detail, starting at noon and finishing well into morning the following day. I sat down with a bottle of wine this evening and listened to the final product, maybe it was the wine, but the album is a winner. Some long time fans might be a bit freaked out by the change of pace, but what-ev. The final session was a fitting end to the whole experience, Brent and Jason Rook went to the St. Louis zoo to record bird sounds with a mid 70s reel to reel. Sure we could have used samples, but it’s the principle damnit. It made for a funny visual and I’ll share some of the funny pics Jason took. We’re hoping to have it released in late April, and as always, check www.thedoxies.com for mp3s. There were some happy accidents that happened during the mixing process when all the instruments and effects were stripped away and the songs were just a piano or a guitar and vocals. I’ll post the alternate versions as soon as I get around to digitizing them.

It has been a busy week, the band has been pulling some long-long hours rehearsing the new tunes and dusting off old favorites. We’re feverishly excited about debuting the new show tomorrow at our home town haunt Mojos, and Jason Rook will be down to make his madden run as the first Doxies sound man, oops I mean person or individual....
